Our Story
Calm & Strong began with two professionals from different worlds — therapy and training — who kept seeing the same struggle: good, capable people running on empty.
When we finally sat down together, we realized our work had been circling the same truth from different angles. People don’t need more motivation. They need nervous system safety, sustainable tools, and permission to rest.
So we built something new — a wellness method that teaches calm as a foundation for strength, and strength as a path to lasting calm.
Our Philosophy
We believe the body and mind are always in conversation. When one is out of sync, everything feels harder — motivation, focus, relationships, even rest.
That’s why our approach integrates:
- Mind — therapy-informed tools, nervous system education, and emotional regulation practices
- Body — strength training, mindful movement, and recovery rhythms
- Story — meaning-making, mindset, and community connection
Our work is grounded in science and designed for real life — simple, sustainable practices that fit into your day and build resilience over time.
“Only when we are in a calm physiological state can we convey cues of safety to another.”
~ Stephen Porges
Meet the Founders

Sarah Russ, CPT, PN
Certified personal trainer and nutritionist. Sarah helps clients rebuild strength, energy, and confidence through practical, sustainable movement and nourishment. Her philosophy: strong doesn’t have to mean extreme — it means steady, supported, and in tune with your body.

Jessica Dorzek, LCSW
Therapist, writer, and nervous system educator. Jessica helps people understand how stress shows up in the body and how small, compassionate shifts create real change. Her work integrates Polyvagal Theory, DBT, and nervous system regulation into tools that make life feel more manageable, not more demanding.
Together
We’re on a mission to help people feel better in their bodies and lives — not by pushing harder, but by finding steadiness through small, science-backed shifts.
Calm & Strong isn’t a program. It’s a practice.
And it starts right where you are.
